Last week I was invited to attend a Burns Night Party in collaboration with Paul Smith Manchester, Indigo PR and Chivas Regal Whisky. The event was held at the Paul Smith shop in Manchester, based on New Cathedral Street. I decided to take my lovely friend Amy who kindly became my hand model for the night *insert Friends joke here about Joey*.
We arrived at the store for 6pm and were greeted by Indigo PR and upon our entry were given our first glass of Chivas Regal whisky and were invited to begin looking around the store. What I love about Paul Smith is that his designs are so bright, full of patterns and are very individual pieces. Located on New Cathedral Street, the store presents an air of luxury. The store is beautiful and as a fashion promotion student, I particularly loved the visual merchandising. So hats off to the team there.
Now, I’ve not really tried whisky before other than the occasional Jack Daniels and Coke…and I most certainly haven’t tried whisky with ice. Our glasses were branded (very nice touch there) and with the whisky we had Orange and a cherry. I love fruit with alcohol so this was very well received. I never drink on a ‘school night’ when I have work the next day but as it was a Thursday I thought ‘why not?’. Around the room there were demonstrations and recommendations of which whisky you would prefer. It was so interesting watching the drinks being made and I quite liked the whisky concoction with lemonade in. I’m one of them, I need a mixer with my drink (also known as: a lightweight).
I made a friend on the night called Sophie who was lovely, I always like making friends at the events I go to and it was great to share our thoughts on the collection together. This was my first event of the year and as I got my new camera lens for Christmas (thanks Harry) it was the perfect opportunity to try it out. Plus it made me feel super professional but not cool in the slightest as I kept exclaiming “wow that’s a good picture”. I’m my own biggest fan always.
My favourite drink of the night was whisky and lemonade and I particularly loved how the mannequins had a glass of Chivas Whisky. Very amusing. My favourite pieces from the Paul Smith collection were a pair of beautiful, metallic gold boots. Very me.
Thank you very much Indigo PR for having me, I had a fantastic night and thanks to you I have made a new blogging friend who I plan on meeting up with very soon. I also loved the little bagels we were treated to!
Have a look for yourself at the collections:
Until next time…
