Welcome to the pastel unicorn rainbow cafe of my dreams, also known as ‘Two for Joy’, Manchester’s first ever Happiness Cafe and my new favourite place. Located in the Ridelow Building on Church Street, this Northern Quarter cafe is one of my favourite places I have ever visited!
Yesterday afternoon I took a visit to this wonderful place that I had heard about on the Manchester Evening News Facebook page. I think anyone that knows me well or follows me on Instagram knows that I love pastels, unicorns and anything bright and colourful. I kept on being tagged in the Facebook post so decided to take a visit and see if this cafe lived up to my expectations.
PLEASE GO! Trust me on this one, this cafe is too cute to miss. You walk inside and up the stairs in the Ridelow Building and you feel as if you have been transported out of Manchester and into my dream life. Pastel walls, fake grass, manchester artwork and a selfie mirror- met with dreamy milkshakes and pink hot chocolate, what is not to love?! Never in my 23 years have I ever seen a place quite like it. It is exactly what I have wanted in Manchester for a very long time. I’m not sponsored to do this post lol, I just haven’t been as blown away by a cafe in a while!
So, it’s open Wed-Sat 10-5 and Sunday 10-4 but I am going to predict that this cafe will get bigger and better over time. I think this cafe has a lot of potential to become a really successful Manchester business as it has all the unique selling points. Fake grass? Check. Unicorn treats? Check.
I’m going to dive straight in and talk about the interior. Each wall is painted a different bright colour and pattern and has cute tables with pastel chairs. Some of the chairs even have the Manchester bee on which I love as a proud Manchester girl. One of the walls is hot pink and has framed pictures of key Manchester associations and moving over to the window you see a little cloud which says ‘every cloud has a silver lining’. They have a selfie wall with a mirror that tells you that you look great and what social media to follow. If you’ve not already then please follow @TWOforJOYmcr on Instagram and like their facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/TWOforJOYmcr/?ref=page_internal ! Upon the wall, they have a handwritten message that reads:
So, my plan before visiting was that I was going to order a cake and a unicorn hot chocolate, however, when I got there I had come straight from brunch so I was a little full! I said at the till “I want anything unicorn themed” and the Fine’n’dandy unicorn candy milkshake was recommended to me so I went with that. The staff were extremely friendly and the service was so quick which was fab as I was very excited to see a unicorn treat.
I have an extremely sweet tooth and can never resist dessert… TWO for JOY stock cakes by Little Blonde Bakes so next time I return I have my eye on those and the rainbow bagels! On each table, they have a little happiness message-so cute! My milkshake came and it was a dessert lovers dream. A smooth milkshake with whipped cream and topped with bubblegum and flying saucers. I didn’t actually realise it was a piece of bubblegum and as I was eating my sweets as I went, I grabbed it and chewed. Only to realise it was bubblegum so had to take it out and save it til I had finished… Not my most ladylike moment I will admit but what can you do!
If you check this out please let me know as I would love to know what you ordered and if anyone wants to go with me and make a trip then message me and we can enjoy unicorn treats together!! I love everything that this cafe stands for and I think you’ll agree that this place is going to skyrocket. I can’t wait to watch their journey
